Canning Star!

My friends, Barbara, and her husband, Doug, went to our canning seminar last month and caught the canning bug! Doug has been tending their fruit trees for the last few years and brought the harvest in for Barbara to put up. Barbara only knew how to make jam, but Doug wanted more! He wanted some of the fruit canned for eating later. Barbara didn't know how to can the fruit, so Doug was out of luck. That is, until they attended our canning seminar! Barbara has been canning up a storm ever since! As you can see she has canned 17 quarts of apricots (5 bags have been frozen to make jam later), 12 quarts of plums, salsa and dill pickles! She is an inspiration for all. She is waiting (impatiently!) for her pressure canner to arrive and will begin canning meats and meals.

The second session of "Canning Seminar 2009" will be held at the Fresno East Center on Saturday August 8th @ 8am.
Preregistration is requested so sufficient materials may be ordered.

  1. Does the preference for aluminum apply to the pressure canners as well? Thanks. Or is stainless steel preferred for the pressure canner.

THose guys are amazing with all that they've done since the seminar! You guys did a kick butt job with it too! Really...all the wards need to get FLYERS & EMAILS to their ward members. For me, it was the best day in 2009.

If you get a mass of people attending-you could always put a link for the people to down load and print all the documents contained in the binders. Granted it's lovely to get a binder, but if you're short on resources. why not? That'll save you time & money FYI. Most people are internet saavy and that'll get them to come to the BLOG.

  2. GO BARBARA & DOUG!!! WHOO HOO! AWESOME!!!

Where did Barbara order her canner from & why them?

I hope the wards put the WORD out cuz this seminar is hands down the BEST. I've talked to others doing the same in Lake Arrowhead and Texas and the enthusiasm from the recipients is EXCITED participants. The JULY one you did was hands down my favorite part of my whole year!

An idea. In the event you get more people than you anticipated; just provide a link on the webpage where the participants can downloand & print the documents contained in the binders. You can only do so much right? Saves you time and $$ & it will draw them to the blog.
